Roger Purdom Bio
Roger has been involved in aspects of land development throughout his career. He majored in architecture at the University of Illinois and urban and regional planning at the University of Washington. In 1972, he worked at the Chelan County Regional Planning Office, which later became the Chelan County Planning Department. Roger started a land development consulting practice in 1978. He continued consulting after going to work for the Chelan County Public Utility District in 1980.
In the mid-1980s, Roger began partnering in his own land development projects, starting with the 26 lot Oakhill Subdivision in East Wenatchee. In the early 1990s, Roger was a major partner in the Westridge Subdivision, a 47 lot high-end residential development north of Wenatchee. He also was the managing partner in the acquisition, renovation and management of the historic 58,000 sf Central Building in downtown Wenatchee. In addition to the 97 and 2 project, Roger is currently a partner in the 84 lot Ridge at Two Rivers view property development in Entiat and the planned Hidden Springs residential development in north Entiat.
In 2004, Roger retired from Chelan County PUD. He was Assistant General Manager. Roger started his PUD career working on regulatory and environmental affairs. His project management skills led him to become a lead project manager for the PUD, taking on the bigger and more complex projects. He completed the rebuilding of the Dryden Dam on the Wenatchee River, the fishway and fishtrapping facilities at Tumwater Dam also on the Wenatchee River, the Eastbank Fish Hatchery Complex which includes 6 fish hatcheries on North Central Washington tributaries, the unsuccessful effort to get regulatory approval to raise the reservoir level at Rocky Reach Dam, and began the project to improve the flow capacity of the Rock Island Dam spillway. In 1990, Roger was given the position of Managing Director of Power Management & Administrative Services, one of the 3 managing director positions at the PUD that at that time reported to the General Manager. In 1996, he became the Managing Director of Distribution & Administrative Services. In 1998, with restructuring of the power industry in full swing, Roger spent 3 years handling legislative projects in Olympia and Washington, DC. In 2001, Roger became the Assistant General Manager of External Affairs with responsibilities for regulatory, environmental, parks, real estate services, and governmental affair.
